Keep a Safe Distance
Following too closely or “tailgating” is one of the most common causes of rear-end car accidents. This is a dangerous practice because if the vehicle ahead of you slams on their brakes, you’ll be too close to react and avoid a collision.

Don’t Depend on Other Drivers
For the sake of safety, you should not depend on other drivers to signal their intentions when changing lanes or turning. Instead, use your own turn signals and make sure to always signal before a curve.

This software utilizes hard-coded rules, obstacle avoidance algorithms and predictive modeling to follow traffic laws and safely navigate obstacles. Google’s Waymo, GM’s Super Cruise and Stellantis’ Autopilot are examples of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that work with cars to reduce accidents, road congestion and fuel consumption.
But autonomous cars can do even more, reducing traffic jams and improving productivity and the quality of life for people who can’t drive because of physical limitations.
